According to D.Dozois, "The biopsychosocial model declares that disorders cannot be understood as resulting from the influence of one factor, be it biological, psychological or social" (p.42).
Generally, there are three theories to why a person takes drugs. These theories include biological, psychological and social. The"biopsychosocial model" is best to use for substance abuse because all of these factors contribute to a persons substance abuse and the nature of it.
Typically, cocaine users take the drug to feel happy and energetic when even though naturally they dont feel this way. According to the biopsychosocial model, it takes alot of reasearch to figure out witch are the strongest contributors to a persons substance abuse and all factors are valueable.
